Base Set, remade

Evolutions closed out the XY era in November 2016 by reprinting Base Set in modern frames, and it is the only modern set that does it. Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur return as EX and full-art cards alongside Base Set artwork collectors recognise on sight, and a handful of packs still carry the secret-rare Charizard that drives the whole set.

The set released November 2, 2016 as the final expansion of the XY series, timed to the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon games. Published checklists show 108 cards in the main set plus 5 cards numbered past it, for 113 in all. The reprints keep most of the original card layouts with updated attacks and stats.
