Why this set still gets opened
Brilliant Stars is the set that introduced the VSTAR mechanic and, more importantly, the Trainer Gallery subset, the first of its kind and the reason this set still gets opened four years on. Charizard VSTAR and the Trainer Gallery Pikachu are the cards that drive it.
Charizard appears across the set: Charizard V (17) and Charizard VSTAR (18) in the main run, two Ultra Rare Charizard V cards at 153 and 154, and the secret rare Charizard VSTAR at 174/172. Arceus, the face of the box, has its own run from Arceus V (122) and Arceus VSTAR (123) up to secret rare Arceus VSTAR cards at 176 and 184.
About Brilliant Stars
The Pokemon Company released Sword & Shield Brilliant Stars on February 25, 2022. The published card list is numbered to 172, with 14 secret cards numbered 173 to 186. The Trainer Gallery is a separate 30 card subset numbered TG01 to TG30, with Pokemon V and VMAX cards such as Umbreon VMAX (TG23), Mimikyu VMAX (TG17) and Sylveon VMAX (TG15), plus full-art Supporters.
