What is in a Gem Pack
Every card in a Gem Pack is foil. Each pack holds 4 cards: 3 of common or uncommon rarity, marked with a circle or a diamond, and 1 card of one-star, two-star or three-star rarity. Foil treatments include elemental-pattern holo, Master Ball-pattern holo and special gold-stamped foils carrying the Gem Pack logo.
The set is built around 28 Pokemon, each printed in seven versions for 196 prints in all. The lineup runs from Ponyta, Eevee, Lickitung and Paldean Wooper to Infernape, Froslass, Excadrill, Litten, Cutiefly, Meltan, Snom, Enamorus and Flutter Mane.
The cards collectors chase
The headline pull is the Ponyta art rare, card 0107/07, which published card lists name as the only exclusive art rare in the set. Sawsbuck also has an art rare print at 1807/07. The seventh print of each Pokemon sits at the top of its run, so every pack has a shot at the upper rarities.
Why Simplified Chinese
Simplified Chinese is the mainland China release, printed separately from the English, Japanese and Korean runs. The cards are legal only in Chinese-language play but the artwork and card stock are the same quality, and the print runs are far smaller than English, which is why collectors chase them. Gem Packs are a Simplified Chinese series, so read the card text as Chinese, not English.
