About the set
Paldean Fates released on January 26, 2024 as a Scarlet & Violet special expansion and brought Shiny Pokemon back to the English card game. It runs 245 cards, 91 in the main set plus 154 secret rares, and more than 100 of those are Shiny Pokemon. The English set is built from the Japanese High Class Pack Shiny Treasure ex.
Shiny Pokemon get rarities of their own here. Shiny Rares carry a single sparkling star at the bottom left, and Shiny Ultra Rares, the Shiny Pokemon ex, carry a pair. Beyond the Shinies the set holds seven Pokemon ex, three Tera Pokemon ex, three Illustration Rares, eight Special Illustration Rares and six Hyper Rares with a gold raised foil effect. Shiny Tera Pokemon ex include Charizard, Forretress and Espathra.
The chase
The Shiny Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare at card 234 is the headline pull, alongside the Special Illustration Rares of Mew ex (232), Gardevoir ex (233) and Iono (237), plus the gold Hyper Rares of Miraidon ex (243) and Koraidon ex (245). The Shiny Ultra Rares of Mew ex (216) and Gardevoir ex (217) sit just below them. Pulls are random and never guaranteed.
Worth knowing: special expansions never get a booster display box. Paldean Fates packs only ever came inside the Elite Trainer Box, the Booster Bundle and collection products, which is why loose packs are harder to find than for a normal set.
What a 10 pack lot gives you
Ten packs is a real session with the set. Paldean Fates never had a booster display box, so a lot of loose packs is the closest thing to opening a display: 100 cards across 10 packs, with no sleeves, dice or other extras to pay for.
