About the set
Pokemon Korea released Heat Wave Arena in Korea on May 16, 2025 as a Scarlet and Violet enhanced expansion pack, set code sv9a, after an early release at Pokemon Card Shops on May 10, 2025. Each pack holds 5 random cards, and a full Korean box holds 30 packs, 150 cards in all. Ho-Oh fronts the pack wrapper.
The set runs 92 cards: 63 in the main set plus 29 secret rares. The secret rares break down as 12 Art Rares (AR), 9 Super Rares (SR), 5 Special Art Rares (SAR) and 3 Ultra Rares (UR). Many of its Pokemon belong to a named Trainer, among them Ethan's, Cynthia's, Misty's and Arven's Pokemon. The Korean cards carry the same sv9a numbering as the Japanese set, so the Ethan's Ho-Oh ex Special Art Rare reads 086/063 on the Korean card.
The chase
Ethan's Ho-Oh ex leads the set as the Special Art Rare at 086/063 and the Ultra Rare at 090/063. Cynthia's Garchomp ex matches it with a Special Art Rare at 087/063 and an Ultra Rare at 091/063. The remaining Special Art Rares are Yanmega ex (085/063), Arven's Mabosstiff ex (088/063) and Ethan's Adventure (089/063). Cards are named here in English; the cards themselves print the Korean names.
