About the set
Mega Evolution, set code ME01, released worldwide on September 26, 2025 as the first main set after the Scarlet and Violet block closed. It holds 188 cards: a 132-card printed base set plus 56 secret rares numbered beyond it. Those secret rares are 22 Illustration Rares, 22 Ultra Rares, 10 Special Illustration Rares and 2 Mega Hyper Rares.
The set reintroduces Mega Evolution to the card game. Pokemon push past their normal ceiling into Mega Evolution Pokemon ex with much larger HP totals and heavier attacks, balanced by the extra risk the mechanic carries, so decks have to be built around them rather than simply including them. Mega Lucario, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Venusaur, Mega Latias, Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Absol all appear.
What to chase
The two cards that define ME01 are the gold Mega Hyper Rares of Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. They are the only two Mega Hyper Rares in the set and sit at roughly one in 1,260 packs, so a single pack is a genuine lottery ticket rather than a plan. The 10 Special Illustration Rares are the realistic display chase.
