About the set
Surging Sparks is the largest standard set of the Scarlet and Violet era at 252 cards: 191 in the main set plus 61 secret rares. The secret rares break down as 23 Illustration Rares, 21 Ultra Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares and 6 Hyper Rares, which is why the set remains one of the most opened in the block long after release.
The set is built around electricity. A tropical storm sets up the Stellar Tera Pikachu ex, and behind it comes a run of dragons led by the towering Alolan Exeggutor ex, with Archaludon ex and Latias ex filling out the roster. New ACE SPEC cards, the powerful Trainer cards limited to one per deck, arrive alongside further Pokemon ex.
Pack, bundle or display
A single pack is the cheapest way to try the set or to add one more shot to an order. A Booster Bundle puts six packs in one box at a lower cost per pack, and a 36-pack Booster Display is the configuration for opening the set in volume. Every pack holds the same 10 cards regardless of which you buy.
What to chase
The card that defines Surging Sparks is the Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare at number 238. It is the standout pull of the set and one of the most sought-after Pokemon cards of its year, which is the main reason single packs of this set still sell. Below it the 11 Special Illustration Rares and 6 Hyper Rares carry the rest of the chase.
