About the set

Phantasmal Flames released on November 14, 2025 as the second Mega Evolution series expansion. It is a Fire and Darkness themed set of 130 cards: 94 in the main set plus 36 secret rares. The English set is built from the Japanese Inferno X expansion plus cards from the Japanese MEGA Starter Sets, which is where Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex come from.

Mega Charizard X ex leads the set, alongside Mega Gengar ex, Mega Heracross ex, Mega Lopunny ex, and Mega Sharpedo ex. Mega Evolution ex cards give up three Prize cards when knocked out, and the set supports them with Energy acceleration and healing options.

The secret rares break down as 13 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares, 5 Special Illustration Rares, and 1 Mega Hyper Rare. The Special Illustration Rares are Mega Charizard X ex, Rotom ex, Mega Sharpedo ex, Mega Lopunny ex, and the Supporter Dawn. Mega Charizard X ex closes the set at card 130 as the Mega Hyper Rare.
