Released August 17, 2016, 2016-17 Donruss Soccer carries a 200-card base set built around clubs from around the world, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Internazionale, Real Madrid, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, FC Bayern Munchen, Borussia Dortmund, River Plate, Boca Juniors, Club America, FC Schalke 04, and SS Lazio, with stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Robert Lewandowski. The 30-card Donruss Debuts subset (cards 201 to 230) delivers the first cards of more than 20 rising players, including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Breel Embolo, Geoffrey Kondogbia, and Max Meyer, at 1 in 12 packs, about two per box.

Parallels run Gold, Holographic, Purple, Silver, Swirlorama, Press Proof Die-Cuts /149, Canvas /49, and Mosaic /15, and every pack averages two parallels or inserts. Inserts are 35th Anniversary Edition (10 cards, a tribute to the first Donruss set), Accomplishments (20), Dominator (50), Picture Perfect (49), and Production Line (40). Autographs come in The Beautiful Game Autographs (54 cards, including Diego Maradona's first officially licensed autographed cards), Dual Autographs (7), Triple Autographs (6), and Quad Autographs (4, numbered to 10).
